Acetyl Coenzyme A definition: Acetyl CoA participates in the biosynthesis of fatty acids and sterols, in the oxidation of fatty acids and in the metabolism of many amino acids. It also acts as a biological acetylating agent.
acetyl coA definition: participates in biosynthesis of fatty acids and sterols, fatty acid oxidation, metabolism of many amino acids, and acts as a biological acetylating agent.
Acetyl Coenzyme A definition: The condensation product of coenzyme A and acetic acid which participates in the biosynthesis of fatty acids and sterols, in the oxidation of fatty acids and in the metabolism of many amino acids. In addition, Acetyl Coenzyme A acts as a biological acetylating agent.
Acyl Coenzyme A definition: S-Acyl coenzyme A. Fatty acid coenzyme A derivatives that are involved in the biosynthesis and oxidation of fatty acids as well as in ceramide formation.
acyl coA definition: S-acyl coenzyme A; fatty acid coenzyme A derivatives that are involved in the biosynthesis and oxidation of fatty acids as well as in ceramide formation.
coenzyme A definition: coenzyme that takes part in fatty acid metabolism.
Coenzyme A definition: A coenzyme containing pantothenic acid, adenosine 3-phosphate 5-pyrophosphate, and cysteamine; involved in the transfer of acyl groups, notably in transacetylations.
Coenzyme A Ligases definition: Enzymes that catalyze the formation of acyl-CoA derivatives. EC 6.2.1.
Coenzyme A-Transferases definition: Enzymes which transfer coenzyme A moieties from acyl- or acetyl-CoA to various carboxylic acceptors forming a thiol ester. Enzymes in this group are instrumental in ketone body metabolism and utilization of acetoacetate in mitochondria. EC 2.8.3.
Coenzymes definition: Small molecules that are required for the catalytic function of ENZYMES. Many VITAMINS are coenzymes.
coenzyme analog definition: synthetic or natural chemical compounds which resemble naturally occurring coenzymes in structure and/or function.
Malonyl Coenzyme A definition: A coenzyme A derivative which plays a key role in the fatty acid synthesis in the cytoplasmic and microsomal systems.
malonyl coA definition: coenzyme A derivative which plays a key role in the fatty acid synthesis in the cytoplasmic and microsomal systems.
Palmitoyl Coenzyme A definition: A fatty acid coenzyme derivative which plays a key role in fatty acid oxidation and biosynthesis.
