CDKN1A Gene definition: This gene is a regulator of cell cycle progression at the G1 phase of the cell cycle.
oncoprotein p21 definition: cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor which prevents cells from progressing into S phase of the cell cycle; also, causes a G1 block to cell cycle progression in response to antimitogenic stimuli or other environmental cues.
Cyclin-Dependent Kinase Inhibitor 1A definition: May mediate p53 inhibition of cell proliferation in response to DNA damage. CIP1 appears to be a tight-binding inhibitor of CDKs. CDKN1A expression is tightly regulated by p53 and IFN-Beta. The CIP1 N-terminus is similar to KIP1. CIP1 is truncated by CASP3 in apoptosis. (from SWISS-PROT P38936, OMIM 116899, and NCI)
Cyclin-Dependent Kinase Inhibitor p21 definition: A cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor that mediates TUMOR SUPPRESSOR PROTEIN P53-dependent CELL CYCLE arrest. p21 interacts with a range of CYCLIN-DEPENDENT KINASES and associates with PROLIFERATING CELL NUCLEAR ANTIGEN and CASPASE 3.
Heterogeneous Nuclear Ribonucleoprotein A/B definition: Heterogeneous Nuclear Ribonucleoprotein A/B, encoded by the HNRPAB gene, belongs to the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). The hnRNPs are produced by RNA polymerase II and they form a component of the heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA) complexes. They are associated with pre-mRNAs in the nucleus and appear to influence pre-mRNA processing and other aspects of mRNA metabolism and transport. While all of the hnRNPs are present in the nucleus, some seem to shuttle between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. The hnRNP proteins have distinct nucleic acid binding properties. The protein encoded by this gene has two repeats of quasi-RRM domains that bind to RNAs. It acts as the catalytic component of the multiprotein editosome complex which mediates apolipoprotein B mRNA editing. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants has been described for this gene which encode different isoforms. (from LocusLink)
Three Prime Repair Exonuclease 1 definition: TREX1 protein is phosphorylated by Ataxia Telangiectasia and Rad3 Related Protein (ATR), regulates ATR expression, and is an essential component of the DNA damage checkpoint pathway. TREX1 and ATR are mutually dependent partners in cell cycle checkpoint signaling pathways. The downstream ORF encodes isozymes that contain 3-prime-to-5-prime exonuclease activity and the excision of nucleotides from DNA 3-prime termini are required by DNA replication, repair, and recombination. They remove mismatched, modified, fragmented, and normal nucleotides to generate the appropriate 3-prime termini for subsequent steps in the DNA metabolic pathways. (NCI)
ABI2 Gene definition: This gene is involved in the regulation of signal transduction events.
BCL2-Related Protein 11 definition: This protein belongs to the BCL-2 protein family. It has been shown to interact with other members of the BCL-2 protein family, including BCL2, BCL2L1/BCL-X(L), and MCL1, and act as an apoptotic activator. The expression of this gene can be induced by nerve growth factor (NGF), as well as by the forkhead transcription factor FKHR-L1, which suggests the roles of this gene in neuronal and lymphocyte apoptosis. Transgenic studies of the mouse counterpart suggested that this protein functions as an essential initiator of the apoptosis in thymocyte-negative selection. (from RefSeq Summary)
ERBB2IP Gene definition: This gene is involved in signal transduction and protein localization and function.
ERBB2 Interacting Protein definition: ERBB2 interacting protein; acts as an adaptor for the receptor ERBB2/HER2, which may assist in their localization and signalling function; has a PDZ domain and sixteen leucine-rich repeats (LRRs) (LocusLink)
TAF9 Gene definition: This gene is involved in transcriptional initiation and signal transduction.
TIP60 definition: TIP60 interacts with the activation domain of Tat, an activator of HIV gene expression. The yeast SAS2 transcriptional silencing protein, important for exit from the cell cycle, is closely related to TIP60. The widely expressed cell surface amyloid-beta precursor protein is cleaved by gamma-secretase and its cytoplasmic tail forms a multimeric complex with the nuclear adaptor protein FE65 and the histone acetyltransferase TIP60. This complex potently stimulates transcription. (from OMIM 601409 and NCI)
RBBP8 Gene definition: This gene is involved in cell cycle regulation.
THOC5 Gene definition: This gene is involved in transcriptional regulation.
TREX1 wt Allele definition: Human TREX1 wild-type allele is located within 3p21.3-p21.2 and is approximately 21 kb in length. This allele, which encodes three prime repair exonuclease1 protein, plays a role in cell cycle checkpoint signaling pathways.
Retinoblastoma Binding Protein 8 definition: Retinoblastoma binding protein 8 (897 aa, ~102 kDa) is encoded by the human RBBP8 gene. This protein is involved in cell cycle checkpoint control.
