Carpal Tunnel Syndrome definition: Entrapment of the MEDIAN NERVE in the carpal tunnel, which is formed by the flexor retinaculum and the CARPAL BONES. This syndrome may be associated with repetitive occupational trauma (CUMULATIVE TRAUMA DISORDERS); wrist injuries; AMYLOID NEUROPATHIES; rheumatoid arthritis (see ARTHRITIS, RHEUMATOID); ACROMEGALY; PREGNANCY; and other conditions. Symptoms include burning pain and paresthesias involving the ventral surface of the hand and fingers which may radiate proximally. Impairment of sensation in the distribution of the median nerve and thenar muscle atrophy may occur. (Joynt, Clinical Neurology, 1995, Ch51, p45)

Carcinoma of Unknown Primary Origin definition: A carcinoma which has metastasized from an unknown primary anatomic site.
Replication Origin definition: A unique DNA sequence of a replicon at which DNA REPLICATION is initiated and proceeds bidirectionally or unidirectionally. It contains the sites where the first separation of the complementary strands occurs, a primer RNA is synthesized, and the switch from primer RNA to DNA synthesis takes place. (Rieger et al., Glossary of Genetics: Classical and Molecular, 5th ed)
Origin of Replication definition: A DNA sequence necessary and sufficient for initiation of DNA replication.
Leber Congenital Amaurosis definition: A rare degenerative inherited eye disease that appears at birth or in the first few months of life that results in a loss of vision. Not to be confused with LEBER HEREDITARY OPTIC NEUROPATHY, the disease is thought to be caused by abnormal development of PHOTORECEPTOR CELLS in the RETINA, or by the extremely premature degeneration of retinal cells.
Leber congenital amaurosis (LCA) definition: Total or nearly total blindness present at birth or shortly thereafter. The fundus may appear normal at birth but pigmentary changes similar to those seen in retinitis pigmentosa take place later in life. Ocular complications may include atrophic changes, cataract, keratoconus, absence of the rods and cones, hyperopia, microphthalmia, optic disk edema, nystagmus, photophobia, and Enophthalmos may occur due to digital self stimulation. Some patients show psychomotor retardation, sensory hearing loss, hypotonia, and various neurological disorders.
