Cytochrome P-450 CYP2E1 definition: An ethanol-inducible cytochrome P450 enzyme that metabolizes several precarcinogens, drugs, and solvents to reactive metabolites. Substrates include alcohol; NITROSAMINES; BENZENE; URETHANE; and other low molecular weight compounds. CYP2E1 has been used as an enzyme marker in the study of alcohol abuse.
Cytochrome P450 2E1 definition: Cytochrome P450 2E1 (493 aa, ~57 kDa) is encoded by the human CYP2E1 gene. This protein plays a role in the both the metabolism of drugs, ethanol and other xenobiotics and the oxidative activation of nitrosamines.
nitrophenol definition: any organic compound containing one or more hydroxyl groups and nitro groups attached to a benzene ring.
SOLUTION, M-NITROPHENOL, SPECIFIC REAGENT FOR CHOLINESTERASE definition: A cholinesterase test system is a device intended to measure cholinesterase (an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of acetylcholine to choline) in human specimens. There are two principal types of cholinesterase in human tissues. True cholinesterase is present at nerve endings and in erythrocytes (red blood cells) but is not present in plasma. Pseudo cholinesterase is present in plasma and liver but is not present in erythrocytes. Measurements obtained by this device are used in the diagnosis and treatment of cholinesterase inhibition disorders (e.g., insecticide poisoning and succinylcholine poisoning).
4-nitrophenol metabolic process definition: The chemical reactions and pathways involving 4-nitrophenol, a nitroaromatic compound which is used in the production of dyes, leather treatment agents, fungicides and as an intermediate in the production of the insecticide parathion. [GOC:jl]

EPA), the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), and state and local health departments, our laboratory developed a rapid, high-throughput, selective method for quantifying p-nitrophenol (PNP), a biomarker of MP exposure, using isotope dilution high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.

The LipB52 displayed on the Pichia pastoris cell surface exhibited activity toward p -nitrophenol ester with carbon chain length ranging from C 10 to C 18 , and the optimum substrate was p -nitrophenol-caprate (C 10 ), which was consistent with it displayed on the Saccharomyces cerevisiae EBY100 cell surface.

The lipase activity reached their maximum (92 and 89 U/g dry cell, p -nitrophenol-caprate used as substrate, assayed at 37°C, pH8.0) after induced for 96 h, while the lipase LipB52 displayed on Saccharomyces cerevisiae EBY100-pLHJ026 reached its maximum (92 U/g dry cell, assayed under the same condition) after induced for 48 h (Fig.
