Individuality definition: Those psychological characteristics which differentiate individuals from one another.
Learning Disorders definition: Conditions characterized by a significant discrepancy between an individual's perceived level of intellect and their ability to acquire new language and other cognitive skills. These disorders may result from organic or psychological conditions. Relatively common subtypes include DYSLEXIA, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia.
learning disorder definition: conditions characterized by a significant discrepancy between an individual's perceived level of intellect and their ability to acquire new language and other cognitive skills; may result from organic or psychological conditions.
Membrane Potentials definition: The voltage differences across a membrane. For cellular membranes they are computed by subtracting the voltage measured outside the membrane from the voltage measured inside the membrane. They result from differences of inside versus outside concentration of potassium, sodium, chloride, and other ions across cells' or ORGANELLES membranes. For excitable cells, the resting membrane potentials range between -30 and -100 millivolts. Physical, chemical, or electrical stimuli can make a membrane potential more negative (hyperpolarization), or less negative (depolarization).
membrane potential definition: electrical potential difference across a biological, i.e., cell or organelle, or artificial membrane.
Sex Characteristics definition: Those characteristics that distinguish one SEX from the other. The primary sex characteristics are the OVARIES and TESTES and their related hormones. Secondary sex characteristics are those which are masculine or feminine but not directly related to reproduction.
gender difference definition: characteristics or qualities that distinguish one sex from the other; qualities, conditions, disorders, etc., which contribute to similarities and differences between sexes.
racial/ethnic difference definition: use this term to index projects explicitly examining race or ethnicity as a factor in health, behavior, education, etc.; does not necessarily imply genetic determinism; also index ethnic background when appropriate.
age difference definition: index on studies in which age is an important variable or which deal with known or potential differences between two or more age classes.
Intra Subject Variability definition: The range of possible values for any measurable characteristic, physical or mental, of a human being, analyzed, examined, investigated, experimented upon, or treated in the course of particular study.
