Extracellular Fluid definition: The fluid of the body that is outside of CELLS. It is the external environment for the cells.
Extracellular Matrix definition: A meshwork-like substance found within the extracellular space and in association with the basement membrane of the cell surface. It promotes cellular proliferation and provides a supporting structure to which cells or cell lysates in culture dishes adhere.
extracellular matrix definition: meshwork-like substance found within the extracellular space and in association with the basement membrane of the cell surface; it promotes cellular proliferation and provides a supporting structure.
Intercellular matrix definition: Body substance which consists of ground substance and connective tissue fibers.
extracellular matrix definition: A structure lying external to one or more cells, which provides structural support for cells or tissues; may be completely external to the cell (as in animals) or be part of the cell (as in plants). [GOC:mah]
Intercellular matrix definition: Body substance which consists of ground substance and connective tissue fibers.
Extracellular Matrix definition: The extracellular matrix is a network of fibers that hold cells together. It is found within the extracellular space and in association with the basement membrane of the cell surface. It promotes cellular proliferation and provides a supporting structure to which cells or cell lysates in culture dishes adhere. It is broken down during normal physiological and disease processes such as bone remodeling, embryogenesis, cancer, and arthritis.
Extracellular Space definition: Interstitial space between cells, occupied by INTERSTITIAL FLUID as well as amorphous and fibrous substances. For organisms with a CELL WALL, the extracellular space includes everything outside of the CELL MEMBRANE including the PERIPLASM and the cell wall.
extracellular space definition: That part of a multicellular organism outside the cells proper, usually taken to be outside the plasma membranes, and occupied by fluid. [ISBN:0198547684]
