Fear definition: The affective response to an actual current external danger which subsides with the elimination of the threatening condition.
fear definition: unpleasant but normal emotional response to genuine external danger or threats; compare with ANXIETY and CLINICAL ANXIETY.
Fear definition: A feeling of apprehension that one may be in danger.
focal definition: In terms of cancer, limited to a specific area.
Focus definition: Area of greatest concentration, attention, or activity; a central point or locus, especially of an infection.
Ultrasound, High-Intensity Focused, Transrectal definition: Tissue ablation of the PROSTATE performed by ultrasound from a transducer placed in the RECTUM. The procedure is used to treat prostate cancer (PROSTATIC NEOPLASMS) and benign prostatic hypertrophy (PROSTATIC HYPERPLASIA).
Focused Ultrasound Therapy definition: Minimally invasive procedure for ablating tumors. The primary mechanism of tissue damage is thermal.
Patient-Focused Outcomes definition: Traditional methods for evaluating treatment outcome focus on disease state. Patient-Focused Outcomes places a greater emphasis on quality of life issues.
High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound Ablation definition: The use of focused, high-frequency sound waves to destroy tissue. It is sometimes used in conjunction with but is distinct from INTERVENTIONAL ULTRASONOGRAPHY.
Focused Ion Beam-Scanning Electron Microscope definition: An instrument that combines the use of a focused beam of gallium ions to etch or coat a sample with a scanning electron microscope to image the sample.
