International Normalized Ratio definition: System established by the World Health Organization and the International Committee on Thrombosis and Hemostasis for monitoring and reporting blood coagulation tests. Under this system, results are standardized using the International Sensitivity Index for the particular test reagent/instrument combination used.
International Normalized Ratio of Prothrombin Time definition: A measure of the extrinsic pathway of coagulation. The International Normalized Ratio of Prothrombin Time (INR) is the ratio of a patient prothrombin time to a normal (control) sample raised to the power of the International Sensitivity Index (ISI) with a range of 0.8 to 1.2 seconds.
Prothrombin Intl. Normalized Ratio definition: A ratio that represents the prothrombin time for a plasma specimen, divided by the result for a control plasma specimen, further standardized for the International Sensitivity Index of the tissue factor (thromboplastin) used in the test.
International Normalized Ratio definition: A system, commonly called the INR, established by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Committee on Thrombosis and Hemostasis for reporting the results of blood coagulation (clotting) tests. All results are standardized using the international sensitivity index (ISI) for the particular thromboplastin reagent and instrument combination utilized to perform the test; the ratio of a patient's clotting time to the lab's mean reference value is normalized against the ISI. (from medterms.com and medicine.ucsf.edu)
INR Increased definition: A laboratory test result which indicates increased levels of INR (International Normalized Ratio) in the blood.
Grade 1 INR (International Normalized Ratio of prothrombin time) definition: >1 - 1.5 x ULN
Grade 2 INR (International Normalized Ratio of prothrombin time) definition: >1.5 - 2 x ULN
Grade 3 INR (International Normalized Ratio of prothrombin time) definition: >2 x ULN
Normalized Quotient definition: Following amplification of reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction assay, the quantified amount of the target gene divided by the quantified amount of housekeeping gene.
Normalize definition: To make something conform to a standard; to remove useless or extraneous entries from a data set.

This was followed by application of a classifier to select the candidates to appear on the final normalized gene list.

BMC Bioinformatics 6 (Suppl 1), 24 May 2005

Results demonstrated that the generation of normalized gene lists is well within the range of current technology, although further experiments are needed to determine what performance would be required for a production system used in some semi-automated curation pipeline.
