Definition

enEnglish
Antibody Formation definition: The production of ANTIBODIES by proliferating and differentiated B-LYMPHOCYTES under stimulation by ANTIGENS.
antibody formation definition: synthesis of antibodies in response to B-cell activation by antigens; includes genetic regulation, recombination, all aspects of gene expression of the antibodies as well as the proliferation and differentiation of the B lymphocytes into plasma cells or memory cells.
immunoglobulin production definition: The appearance of immunoglobulin due to biosynthesis or secretion following a cellular stimulus, resulting in an increase in its intracellular or extracellular levels. [GOC:add, ISBN:0781735149 "Fundamental Immunology"]
thermogenesis definition: heat production in the body by muscular activity (e.g. shivering), food intake, or increased metabolic rate, frequently hormonally regulated.
Thermogenesis definition: The generation of heat in order to maintain body temperature. The uncoupled oxidation of fatty acids contained within brown adipose tissue and SHIVERING are examples of thermogenesis in MAMMALS.
cytokine production definition: The appearance of a cytokine due to biosynthesis or secretion following a cellular stimulus, resulting in an increase in its intracellular or extracellular levels. [GOC:add, ISBN:0781735149 "Fundamental Immunology"]
Eicosanoid Production definition: Eicosanoid Production consists of synthesis of hormone-like endogenous unsaturated and oxygenated fatty acid derivatives of arachidonic acid (eicosanoids) that act near the site of synthesis and have a specific regulatory effect on the activity of target cells in host defense reactions, immediate hypersensitivity, and inflammation. Eicosanoids include prostaglandins, leukotrienes, thromboxanes, and hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid compounds.
Histamine Production definition: Histamine Production consists of synthesis of a decarboxylation product of histidine (histamine), found particularly in mast cells and basophils, and involved in capillary dilation and permeability; blood pressure decrease; smooth muscle contraction; gastric secretion; heart rate acceleration; immediate hypersensitivity; and central neurotransmission.
Leukotriene Production definition: Leukotriene Production consists of synthesis of a family of oxidative derivatives of arachidonic acid (5-lipoxygenase pathway) (leukotrienes) having potent regulatory effects on the activity of cardiovascular, pulmonary, central neural, gastrointestinal, and immune system cells involved in host defense, immediate hypersensitivity, and inflammation.
Production definition: Identifies production type of processing.
