Interleukin-5 definition: A cytokine that promotes differentiation and activation of EOSINOPHILS. It also triggers activated B-LYMPHOCYTES to differentiate into IMMUNOGLOBULIN-secreting cells.
interleukin 5 definition: lymphokine produced by antigen or mitogen activated T lymphocytes that acts as a differentiation factor for B lymphocytes and eosinophils and increases the production of IgA by B lymphocytes.
Interleukin-5 definition: Human interleukin-5 protein (134 aa, 15 kDa precursor) is encoded by the human interleukin-5 (IL5) gene. This cytokine acts as a growth and differentiation factor for eosinophils and induces terminal differentiation of B-cells which become Ig-secreting cells. It is thought to play a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of asthma. Elevated levels of this protein have been detected in both asthma and hypereosinophilic syndromes.
IL5 Gene definition: This gene plays a role in eosinophil differentiation.
Recombinant Interleukin-5 definition: A recombinant therapeutic agent which is chemically identical to or similar to the endogenous cytokine interleukin-5 (IL-5). Produced by T cells, IL-5 stimulates the growth, differentiation, and activation of eosinophils, and promotes the conversion of B-cells into antibody- producing cells. (NCI04)
IL5 wt Allele definition: Human IL5 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 5q31.1 and is approximately 2 kb in length. This allele, which encodes interleukin-5 protein, is involved in eosinopoiesis or eosinophil maturation and activation.

It was suggested from data which we and others have previously reported that various sequences could be capable of activating c-raf(-1) by replacing its 5' half.
