Aptitude Tests definition: Primarily non-verbal tests designed to predict an individual's future learning ability or performance.
biomaterial evaluation definition: evaluation of synthetic or industrial materials intended for use in contact with human tissues.
Carcinogenicity Tests definition: Tests to experimentally measure the tumor-producing/cancer cell-producing potency of an agent by administering the agent (e.g., benzanthracenes) and observing the quantity of tumors or the cell transformation developed over a given period of time. The carcinogenicity value is usually measured as milligrams of agent administered per tumor developed. Though this test differs from the DNA-repair and bacterial microsome MUTAGENICITY TESTS, researchers often attempt to correlate the finding of carcinogenicity values and mutagenicity values.
carcinogen testing definition: tests to experimentally measure the tumor producing or cancer cell producing potency of an agent by administering the agent and observing the quantity of tumors or the cell transformation developed over a given period of time; the carcinogenicity value is usually measured as milligrams of agent administered per tumor developed.
Exercise Test definition: Controlled physical activity, more strenuous than at rest, which is performed in order to allow assessment of physiological functions, particularly cardiovascular and pulmonary, but also aerobic capacity. Maximal (most intense) exercise is usually required but submaximal exercise is also used. The intensity of exercise is often graded, using criteria such as rate of work done, oxygen consumption, and heart rate.
Histocompatibility Testing definition: Identification of the major histocompatibility antigens of transplant DONORS and potential recipients, usually by serological tests. Donor and recipient pairs should be of identical ABO blood group, and in addition should be matched as closely as possible for HISTOCOMPATIBILITY ANTIGENS in order to minimize the likelihood of allograft rejection. (King, Dictionary of Genetics, 4th ed)
histocompatibility typing definition: identification of the major histocompatibility antigens of transplant donors and potential recipients, usually by serological tests.
Materials Testing definition: The testing of materials and devices, especially those used for PROSTHESES AND IMPLANTS; SUTURES; TISSUE ADHESIVES; etc., for hardness, strength, durability, safety, efficacy, and biocompatibility.
Mutagenicity Tests definition: Tests of chemical substances and physical agents for mutagenic potential. They include microbial, insect, mammalian cell, and whole animal tests.
mutagen testing definition: tests of chemical substances and physical agents for mutagenic potential, including cell culture, microbial, insect, mammalian cell, and whole animal tests.
